In 1820 Albert Morot set up his negociant business in Beaune. Between 1984 and 1999 the estate was managed by Francoise Choppin, who discontinued the negociant activity in order to concentrate on its vineyards and winemaking. In January 2000, Geoffroy Choppin de Janvry (a great-nephew), who is an agronomist engineer specializing in viticulture and oenology, took over the family estate. The Domaine spreads over eight hectares of vineyards. These wines, exclusively Premier Crus, are divided into eight appellations. Domaine Albert Morot consistently produces elegant, top quality Burgundian wines which are highly rated around the world. The Domaine has been certified organic since the 2015 vintage.

2013 was a challenging vintage. A cool spring and lack of sunshine delayed the growth cycle and the early summer saw wet, cool weather. Fortunately a hot, dry summer provided welcome change and allowed the grapes to mature correctly and a drier September ensured good weather at harvest.

The premier cru vineyard of les Teurons is one of the most highly respected in Beaune. Located in the Côte d'Or, the limestone soils are mixed with marl and give the vines a favourable terroir. Domaine Albert Morot cultivates a hectare of vines here on the gently sloping vineyard, which enjoys a south-easterly exposure providing the vines with sunshine for most of the day. The vines have an average age of 50 years and produce low yields of between 23 to 25 hl/ha. A green harvest takes place to control yields and ensure the maximum concentration of flavours in the remaining berries. Domaine Albert Morot are in conversion to organic status and as such the vines are cultivated in vineyards where the environment is respected and biodiversity is encouraged. The use of artificial pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilisers is strictly prohibited, though certain fertilisers (typically derived from animal or vegetable matter) are allowed. Many biodynamic practices are also employed.

Harvested manually, the grapes underwent a careful, manual sorting prior to a traditional Burgundian vinification, in open vats using natural yeasts. The wine was pumped over twice a day and was then aged for 14 months in oak, of which 30% was new. The wine did not undergo any fining or filtration, prior to being bottled by gravity.

A rich style of classic Burgundy with ripe wild strawberry fruit and a lovely texture. Concentrated and full flavoured with silky tannins through to a full finish. Serve at 15 to 16°C with roasted red meats, rich casseroles, game dishes and cheese.
