A powerful, opulent wine with the lime and floral zest Riesling is renowned for. After many years of traditional stainless steel fermentation, Escarpment have evolved their Riesling approach to include barrel fermentation and lees contact, enhancing texture and mouth feel. A single vineyard Riesling from Escarpment's own Te Muna Road site. Grown on the alluvial gravel terrace soils of the Martinborough Terrace. 2017 was a challenging growing season for the district, however a smaller crop and warm dry summer allowed fruit to ripen wonderfully. The fruit was hand harvested and whole bunch pressed before being barrel fermented to dryness using a mixture of wild and cultured yeast. Aged on its lees for six months and bottled without fining agents.
