The Majoros Family Estate is located in one of the most significant and renowned communes of the Tokaj wine region, Tarcal, in a village situated at the base of Mount Tokai. Currently six hectares of vines are cultivated. László Majoros is one of the rising stars of Hungarian wine, producing some of the most talked about Furmints around, made from grapes grown in the volcanic soils of Tokaj.

The grapes come from family's historical vineyard 'Deák', which is a 40 year old plantation. The estate's vineyards are farmed using an organic and sustainable approach, which results in relatively low yields. They do not use chemicals, sprays, herbicides or fertilisers and these practices result in excellent quality fruit.

Only the free run juice was used, no press wine. The majority of the cuvées were barrel-fermented using indigenous yeast, and subsequently received a relatively long barrel aging. A smaller percentage of the cuvées were made without oak or air contact. The blend was matured in new oak, imparting the flavours of vanilla, chocolate and almonds. Lees stirring or 'bâtonnage' was used eight times during the vinification, to add complexity and texture to the resulting wine. Each year, at the time of harvest, barrel use is experimented with, along with the length of skin contact time, fermentation on the skins and the use (or not) of filtering.

A great example of an 'orange wine'. A dry wine, which is slightly oxidative in style and shot through with vanilla, chocolate, apricot and smoke. This has a textured mouthfeel and wonderful complexity, culminating in a long salty edge on the finish. Delicious with pork chops with sauerkraut, roast pork or chicken.
