Doña Paula is a leading, modern winery at the forefront of exploring and investing in new, high quality wine regions in Argentina. Established in 1997, they own all of their vineyards covering 700 hectares. These vineyard sites are located in the best subregions within Mendoza including Ugarteche, Altamira, Gualtallary and Tupungato. The vineyards have always been cultivated using sustainable methods which helps to maximise the true expression of terroir, and in 2019 Doña Paula was certified as a sustainably managed winery by Bodegas de Argentina. Continuous innovation in vineyard management ensures Doña Paula produces top quality wines from one year to the next.

Selección de Bodega Malbec comes from Alluvia vineyard, located in Gualtallary, Uco Valley, at 1,350 meters above the sea level. This head-pruned vineyard is set on the streambed, its soil contains medium-size alluvial rocks covered with calcium carbonate patinas and intermingled with sand and chalk enamel. It is one of the poorest soils with regards to nutrients, its organic matter is almost zero and it has a great drainage capacity. The weather is cool during the days and cold during the nights. The vineyards have always been cultivated using sustainable agricultural practices.

The grapes underwent a cold maceration prior to the alcoholic fermentation, in order to preserve the primary fruit aromas. A wild fermentation took place with native yeasts at low temperatures. The wine was then aged new French barriques of which 50% were new, for 16 months

A sumptuous and opulent wine showing rich, black fruit flavours, accompanied by fresh raspberries and mineral notes reminiscent of chalk and graphite. Great structure on the textured palate with balancing freshness through to an elegant finish.
