The village of Chinon represents the Cabernet Franc grape’s spiritual home and is undeniably where it reaches its purest expression. In hands of the right vigneron, is a wine of magnitude, densely structured and capable of standing toe to toe with any of France’s most celebrated reds. Domaine de la Commanderie demonstrate a modern take on a traditional style. Deeply spiced, juicy and dark with a slight chalky feel, this Chinon encapsulates the traditional beauty associated with the classic style. In a more modern sense, the wine is simultaneously fruity, fleshy and seductive with a long, lingering finish.

The Domaine De La Commanderie has been a family business since 1982 and was founded by Philippe Pain. In the heart the Loire Valley, at the foot of the slopes of the Chinon AOC, Philippe and his daughters Clothilde and Honorine organically cultivate about fifty hectares of vines.
