Sangiovese was pioneered in Australia by Coriole Vineyards with the first plantings in 1985, now some of the oldest in the country. Member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia. No mains water is used; all water on the property is recycled, rain and bore. Viticulture and wine-making processes are achieved with minimal intervention, with a move to organic viticulture in place.
Coriole Estate Sangiovese is a rich, bold wine with a deep ruby hue and concentrated aromas of black cherry, raspberry and spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and complex, with flavours of ripe dark fruits, plum, tobacco, leather and a hint of balsamic. The tannins are firm but balanced, with a bright acidity that provides a long and satisfying finish. This wine is made from Sangiovese grapes grown on the sunny slopes of the McLaren Vale in South Australia, where the warm Mediterranean climate and ancient soils create perfect conditions for producing high-quality wine. Pair this Sangiovese with grilled or roasted meats, hearty pasta dishes and strong cheeses.
