Scotto Family Cellars is located in Lodi, the heart of California’s wine country. Long known for Old Vine Zinfandel, Lodi is now widely recognized as an appellation that produces other premium wines as well. These award winning Lodi varietals are currently available from their family operated winery. In August 2009, Scotto Family Wines became Lodi’s newest winery. "Here in the heart of California’s wine country we produce small lots of handmade wine from local vineyards. We’ve known many of these vineyards and their owners for generations, and they share our passion for making fine wine from Lodi grapes for wine lovers around the world."
The fruit for Scotto's Old Vine Zinfandel originates from one of the oldest and most distinctive Zinfandel growing regions in California. Hand picked and gently crushed before fermentation in stainless steel on its skin for ten days at 78-82°F, during which the tank was circulated three to five times a day to insure a deep extraction and the development of richness and flavour. Followed by 24 months in 2nd and 3rd year French oak barrels. Layers of blackberry, dark cherry and spice flavors with a hint of oak and soft tannins for a lingering finish.
