Formed in 1985, Cloudy Bay was the vineyard that skyrocketed Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to global superstar amongst wine-drinkers. 40-odd years on, Cloudy Bay continues to be the iconic example of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The 2025 vintage was an unusual year for Cloudy Bay - though with an excellent starting potential. It was during harvest that to the surprise of the vineyard team - they found the Sauvignon Blanc was not ready to be harvested at the usual time when compared against the early harvest time of their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. A week passed, with fears of rainfall ruining what looked to be a stupendous harvest. Fortune was on Cloudy Bay’s side however, and the harvest began and finished with not a drop falling.
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2025 is open and expressive on the nose, with aromas of peach, elderflower, makrut lime and freshly squeezed lemon. The palate is bright and layered with lemon curd and white nectarine, lifted by a refreshing character that recalls a cool sea breeze at the end of a warm day, with hints of sea salt and dune grass.
