The family estate in the Southern Weinviertel region belongs to one of the most well recognised names in the Austrian wine business. The Pfaffl wines are very well known and appreciated both nationally and internationally, being exported to more than 20 countries. The new generation is taking over the reins, but always keeping the family philosophy in mind: “The quality grows in the vineyard”. They were named ‘European Winery of the Year 2016’ by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. The Dot range is their series of more approachable, quaffable wines - with a fruit name on the bottle to describe what to expect. Austrian Cherry - expect buckets of red cherry!
The nose is immediately inviting: red cherries dominate, supported by notes of raspberry compote, violet, and a touch of black pepper. On the palate, it’s juicy, smooth, and medium-bodied with minimal tannin and lively acidity. The fruit is upfront, sour cherry, red plum, and a hint of cranberry, balanced by a soft herbal twist and just a flicker of spice on the finish. There’s a playful bounce to the wine, making it perfect for slightly chilling and casual sipping.
