White Wine

The classic Chablis of Château de Fleys is a great example from the appellation, showing an elegant nose of white flowers and peach. On the palate, aromas of citrus and pear take over, with a mineral touch and a clean finish. Definitely a good value Chablis, to be discovered!

Lying on South-facing slopes, these vines are ideally located and produce powerful and fruity Chablis. Coming from 50 year-old vines, it is a remarkably well-structured and concentrated wine with delicate aromas of dried fruit and a hint of honey. A beautiful mineral finish.

Le Clos du Château is the latest cuvée form the Philippon family, made exclusively form vines located around the Château and inside closed walls - which is called a "Clos". These small plots have been managed within the Sustainable Agriculture Practice - no chemicals, manual harvest - and have been aged for 20% in oak barrels. The result is a slightly more dense structure than the classic Chablis, with a discrete buttery touch, the same aromas of white flowers and yellow fruit (peach) on a mineral background. Quite a surprising but classy Chablis!

“Les Fourneaux” is a tiny and beautiful Premier Cru plot with a South West exposure. This sunny vineyard gives intense aromas of ripe yellow fruit and flowers; its lovely buttery structure is balanced by a refreshing minerality. A really elegant Chablis Premier Cru, which has everything we can expect from an unoaked Chardonnay and a little bit more, with this unique minerality from the Chablis terroir.

An elegant and expressive wine delivering notes of passion fruit, grapefruit and pineapple enveloped in a rich, full-bodied and harmonious palate. Candied citrus flavours and a zippy acidity lead to a long finish.

The fermentation is made by the indigenous yeasts that exist naturally on the grapes, it is then aged on the lees for 9 months in concrete vats. The result is a textured wine with notes of peach, honeysuckle and grapefruit with an elegant vein of minerality.

An aromatic blend of Viognier, Marsanne, Roussane, Clairette and Bourboulenc. This white Cotes du Rhone is a pale gold in colour with notes of apricots and ripe pears on the nose. The palate is round with a fresh acidity and combines the stone fruit flavours with perfumed floral notes.

The Southern Rhone is home to many famous appellations with a great variety of soils and microclimates, though in general sees ideal growing conditions that are warm and dry, with the Mistral wind proving a defining feature. Grenache forms the backbone of southern Rhône blends, including Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras. With a range of varieties grown, the region sees a range of styles produced from quality red and white wines to the aromatic dessert wine Muscat de Beaumes de Venise.

The juice is fermented in cement vats and then spends 3 months in oak for a smooth and rich mouth-feel. With a bright yellow colour, the nose and palate bursts with fresh citrus notes and hints of nuts and spices which is balanced by a refreshing acidity and an elegant finish.

Made from a blend of indiginous varieties Viosinho, Rabigato and Côdega de Larinho grown between 450-650m altitude. The wine has a light yellow colour, it is made protectively for a fresh and clean style with vibrant fruit character. The nose is bursting with citrus notes such as grapefruit and stone fruit such as white peach, nectarine peel and honeysuckle. The concentrated fruit on the palate is balanced with fresh acidity and round mouth feel, leaving you with a long finish of ripe stone fruit.

The Douro region of northern Portugal takes its name from the Douro river, the longest in the Iberian Peninsula, which flows east to west from the Spanish border to the Atlantic Ocean. Though Douro is best known for its fortified wines, total production here is evenly split with its unfortified wines gaining greater recognition for quality using local varieties. The Douro`s most unifying trait is varied soil types and vineyards being located on steep dry slopes either side of the river and its myriad tributaries on narrow rocky terraces.

Light golden in colour, this Sauvignon Blanc is rich, creamy and textural. Wild fermented entirely in old oak with Loire clones adding texture and richness. Partial malolactic contributes to soft acidity and mouthfilling texture.

Wairau river has some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines in New Zealand, planted in 1990. This trendy mineral influenced Marlborough white, captures the very essence of the regions clean and pure climate. Succulent ripe pear on the nose, with melon, apple and apricot flavours. Light lees ageing gives the palate some weight and a creamy texture without being cloying. A lingering finish complements the exotic spice and fleshy character, with well-integrated lemon notes.

Marlborough is by far New Zealand’s largest grape growing region with more than two-thirds of all plantings. First planted in 1873 it is known in the region by the Maori name, Kei puta te Wairau meaning ‘the place with the hole in the cloud’ due to its very high 2,410 sunshine hours a year. High sunshine and a dry growing season help to create the famous intense flavours. Generally, plantings are in two main valleys of Wairau and Awatere. Much of the land is alluvial river basin with well-drained soils that provide an ideal for Sauvignon Blanc and clay slopes better suited Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.

Wairau River wines take their name from the river that runs through the heart of the Marlborough wine region. (Wairau is Maori for `many waters`). The Rose family were pioneers in planting vines in the 1970`s and after originally selling the grapes to other wineries (like Cloudy Bay) they launched their own label in the early 1990`s. Today their foresight has created a very successful company which remains family owned and run. Wairau River is one of the largest independent wine estates in Marlborough, and the range of elegant wines is characteristically expressive of its Marlborough roots.

Dried peach, white pear, almond, stone-fruit and floral notes drive the bouquet that follows through on the full-bodied, dense palate that shows great complexity in it.

Mouth-filling flavours of citrus, lime sorbet and a core of ripe nectarine flesh with a long, pure line of pink grapefruit on the finish. In its youth, flavours are fresh and zesty with a broad mineral-textured base which over time will settle into a flinty and wet limestone character.

Ripe quince, pineapple and stone fruit with some interesting savoury undertones. Lightly textured palate, with a hint of sweetness and balancing crunchy acid, results in a brisk finish.

With age, these youthful fruit characteristics may evolve into almond paste, baked apple and spicy cardamom notes. Fermented in handmade, traditional clay amphorae.

Alternative methods in the making of this wine, including natural fermentation, carbonic maceration and orange winemaking, allowed for an ultra-premium blend of components. Delicate citrus and honeysuckle aromas on the nose, with layers of peach, marmalade and almond on the palate.

A restrained, mineral style focussed on elegance with a white fruit character, a touch of oatmeal and delicate oak spice notes.

A rich, complex Fiano with aromas of white nectarine, butter-poached fruit, baked apple, freshly cut hay, rosehip and papaya to name a few. The palate is beautifully balanced with great natural acidity, a soft, creamy texture and an array of citrus characters.
